When describing a person, a movie, or a book, “predictable” isn’t necessarily high praise. But with the 2010 Nissan Altima, it’s adulation. The Altima is the grunt of the Nissan lineup. It isn’t as flashy as it’s big brother, the Maxima, and it certainly doesn’t have the performance of the brand’s sporty 370Z or GT-R. But, it performs the heaviest lifting of the group, being the brand’s best selling model and comprising a fair portion of Nissan’s profits. Nissan has been pretty light on the green vehicle offerings thus far, leaving the field to their competition. Other than the Altima Hybrid, and the recently announced M35 Hybrid in their Infiniti line, drivers looking for hybrids had to look elsewhere. There was a reason for leaving this market segment undeveloped, though: Nissan took the time and money normally devoted to hybrid development and leapfrogged the technology, going straight to electric vehicles (EV’s). The 2009 Nissan Maxima marks the seventh generation of the fun and nimble sedan, and fans of the model will be pleased with the newest version. Nissan, and Maxima drivers, have long referred to the car as a four-door sports car that is very well priced for the performance.
