Unless you’ve been living in a van down by the river, then you are probably aware of a super luxury brand car called a Bentley. Well, Bentley released a super model car called a Continental GT in 2003, which is priced in the $270,000 USD price range. The Continental GT has been through a few iterations since 2003, with special engine offerings on select models like the Flying Spur and GT Speed. The base engine setup is a 6.0 liter twin turbo, paired with a 6 speed transmission, which is capable of laying down just over 550 horsepower. Point being, this isn’t a car you put a sticker on, it’s one you hire a driver to escort you around in.
When the announcement came down that Bentley was dropping their flagship Arnage sedan, the future of the segment was uncertain, but a new model has been unveiled to replace it. That replacement, the 2011 Mulsanne, adopts the name of a luxury sedan from the company which was produced between 1980 and 1992, but the 2011 model is all new. Continue Reading
Bentley’s cars have never been known for being lightweight, and the new Supersports edition of the company’s Continental is no exception. But that doesn’t mean it’s not fun. The Supersports started off as a melding of various technical exercises being undertaken at Bentley, and the result is a Continental that ditches the ponderous handling of the average Bentley, and replaces it with a nimble poise.
